The Freedom of Information Law, effective January 1, 1978, reaffirms your right to know how your government operates. It provides rights of access to records reflective of governmental decisions and policies that affect the lives of every New Yorker.
Instructions for Submitting a FOIL Request
To request access to records under the New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), Article 6 of the Public Officers Law, please complete the form below.
✅ Complete all required fields to ensure your request can be processed.
✅ Be as specific as possible when describing the records and include date ranges when appropriate. This will help us locate the requested records quickly and efficiently.
✅ Once completed be sure to click the "Submit FOIL Request" button to send your request to our Archives/Records department.
